My 2-Cents : Bourne Legacy & the Filipino Hoopla

This is not a review.
This is my personal take on this craziness that happens when something like this happens. (With this means something about Philippines & some Filipinos going VIRALLY crazy)

I was really excited to see the trailer of Bourne Legacy in Youtube. Not only because I am a fan of the Bourne Trilogy, but so much more because I read some of the Bourne series by Eric Van Lustbader - Legacy,  Dominion, Betrayal, and others. I am really looking forward to see it in big screen. The fact that some scenes for this Bourne Legacy was shoot in the Philippines, is just an icing to the cake.

Then, I read the comments as I watch the video on Youtube. And again... I felt that sinking feeling of embarrassment? Disbelief?

I am not saying that I am not proud to be a Filipino, because believe me, I am first and foremost a true-blooded Filipino. Changing citizenship doesn't make me less of what I am. However, at times like this.. I wish we could minimize that chance of embarrassing ourselves.

Debating online over the issue is pointless. Not only we embarrass ourselves more by posting grammatically  incorrect comments, but impertinent line of thoughts. The craziness is pathetic. It gives other people a reason to respect us less and not take us seriously. And it's not really fair to those successful Filipino who tried their darn best to make us proud. It kind of refuted their purpose.

When Bourne Supremacy shoot in India, there was no such craziness as this. And to think it was Matt Damon.

I wish I could say I am so proud to watch this movie as a Filipino just as proud as I am when I watched the Great Raid with Benjamin Bratt in it. And guess who else? Cesar Montano. I was so damn proud, I rented the freakin DVD 3X from the defunct Blockbuster. And not only because I am one proud Filipino, but also because I wanna see those scenes shoot in Philippines, again, and again, and again. And to think the whole Great Raid movie was shoot in the Philippines. Did we went crazy about it? Naah! Maybe because back then, social networking is not everyone's thing yet. But how I wish we were that less embarrassing.

I guess, my bottom line is, we should watch what we post. I believe all Filipino are proud to be a Filipino. Let's not just push that down other's(race) throat. It kind of make them choke and spit on us. It's really not a     moment to be proud of when they start bitching about us because of our lack of restraint and finesse.

Between you and me and these viral world -- the only thing that matters is REALITY.

And as a Filipino, our reality is what is happening in Philippines right now. Not the one in Hollywood. Not even the one that happened in American Idol. It is what happened to the Corona Trial. It is what is happening in Spratly Island. Above all, reality is what is happening in the farm. If you don't know what it is, then you have no clue what is the real essence of the phrase "Proud to be Pinoy!"

Multi-Grain Crescent for Mother

Multi-Grain Crescent from Pillsbury

Mother is 76 years old and a diabetic. But one thing I admire about her, aside from being the most wonderful mother in the whole world, is her discipline when it comes to her food intake. With this discipline comes her awesome blood work results. Chloesterol=normal. Sugar=normal. Blood pressure=normal. It is very inspiring to watch her take care of her health. At times, it makes me feel guilty knowing she can be this discipline at her age, and I can't at my age.

I try the best that I can to assist her with this nutrition drive. My best is to buy her fish for her meals. Salmon & tilapia fillets are her most favourite. And of course, her veggies and fruits.

Today, my niece started the morning with this Pillsbury crescent. Mother loved them. So while scouring through the grocery aisle, I remembered this morning's breakfast and picked her more crescent and added a multi-grain crescent.

Baked it for her snacks this afternoon (English' fternoon tea), and she adores it as well, as Khloe joined her with munching 2 of the crescent herself.

On the Move!!!: A Revisit of the Last

We'll be moving to our own place soon.. hopefully before the month ends.
Of course, I can't wait.
My brain is inkling to start settling a new.

Last time we moved was 2009, when we were California and we moved to a different apartment. I was 8 months pregnant. But a month before the move, I started packing our dire-stuffs in boxes. It was not a hard move, but not easy as well as I can't bend that much, nor clean both places thoroughly. How could I ever forget this move? I ended up giving birth early. LOL.

What happened? My due date was Sept 15. We're suppose to move in Sept 1 but I begged Cathy (the landlord) to make it possible for us to move 2 weeks before so I can still help organize stuffs at the new place before I give birth. So we were able to move August 23. We tried to clean up and move everything in before my sister & niece, Cherry & Cass, comes from Canada for a visit. Their arrival date is Aug 26 at 11pm. But since I am not yet on maternity leave, I had to work that Wednesday up to 8pm, go home, wash the floor and clean up their room and drive with hubby to San Francisco Airport to pick them up. They ended up arriving late at 1am of Aug 27. All of us tired (them jet lagged), we slept in. When the three of us got all going that Thursday, we went for a walk to the nearest store and my sister picked up some linens (yay!) and went grocery shopping from the nearby chinese store. It was a short walk but I felt like I can't last anymore. So me and Cass ended up grabbing some fast food from McDonalds as we waited for sister to get back to us. That afternoon, as soon as hubby got home from work, we drove to Milpitas-Great Mall for them to experience Jollibee and good-deals shopping. Again, I felt like I can't continue walking that far. I thought I just got so beaten up with the moving and all. That night, Cherry & Cass slept early to make up with their jet-lagged time change.

 At 12am of Friday, my contractions started. I let hubby slept telling him in his half-awake,half-sleeping state, that I might be in labour and that I need him to get back to sleep so he is all good when we go to the hospital. I dealt with my early labour all by myself, took a bath, cooked, ate and phoned the hospital about my contractions. They told me to time it and when I am 1 minute apart, then I could go. At 4:30am, I woke hubby up, he drove me to the hospital, admitted at 5cm. At 10am of August 28, I gave birth to a beautiful baby whom we named Khloe Chantalle. August 29 at 3pm we got discharged from the hospital. The next day, Sunday, my other sister and her family, Clarisa, Dennis, Chelsea & Ethan, with Nanay, landed in San Francisco Airport from Canada to visit us as well.

So yes, pretty much, our every move will be a reminder of this blessed day.

But going back to our soon-to-be-move... I am all excited!!

I picked up necessary stuffs little by little. Homesense  is my new bestfriend right now. Will be getting furniture from my sisters. And hubby is coming in 12 days!!!!

All of this is getting me more excited again. And today is saturday... when garage sale is the game.

Happy reading!!!

To Blog or Not to Blog!!

To blog or not to blog!!!

I started blogging way back 2005. It was the year when all hell froze over. It's a very emotional year for me.

When in pain, or in bliss... I write down my sentiments -- either in poem, or in a techy time like this -- in blog.

But life got too busy and I was not able to save my blogs when Friendster closed everything down. So I continued with my busy life (Facebook & Twitter)... and for whatever force this morning-- I got inspired to go back to blogging again.

Hopefully, it won't be an emotional roller coaster blogs I'll write anymore.

I'm looking forward to sharing most of who I am ... of how I evolved to be:
- from that teeny-booper who went to high school in University of San Agustin (Iloilo) in Philippines, all wide-eyed, naive & gullible;
- to that care-free teen who conquered the world of BA Psychology in University of the Philippines (Miag-ao) Visayas;
- to that adamant feeling-all-grown-up collegiate who switched to BS Accountancy in University of the Philippines (Iloilo) Visayas;
- to that feeling-all-knowing, adventure-seeker who experienced Manila in 1998, Canada in 2001, United States of America in 2008; and
- to this humbled, not-knowing-it-all, still-gullible Mom of a toddler, who is back here now in Canada, to settle down at last... and experience life to it's full worth.

I'm hoping to share with my reader, through this blog... all thoughts of my every experience of this "settled-life".. as a daughter, a sister, a wife, a mom, a friend and an acquaintance.

If you're a wise (cheap) shopper, this is your blog.
If you're a Mom who wanna dress your toddler or kids, this is your blog.
If you're fun and wanna know deals and deals, this is your blog.
If you're a friend who just wanna keep tabs of my new embarrassment in life, this is your blog.
If you wanna read a professional blogger -- then get out of my blog!!!

Again... looking forward to sharing fun stuffs with you.
